slab

The roof is one of the most important elements of a self-built dwelling.  It can be left as a plain roof for a while, or forever. However, a slab is something that a dweller aspire and see the value of it. It can be  used to build a second level above, or just to address health purposes, since a plain roof can accumulate residues that can cause health issues to the dwellers.

back

Exterior openings are usually located on the front and sometimes in the back of the dwelling. This happens due to the building coverage that can reach up to 100% of the lot, which does not allow openings on the side of the dwelling.

wall

Interior short walls can be strategically used to enhance natural ventilation and illumination in rooms without exterior openings. This strategy helps the airflow to reach those spaces, enhancing the air quality of the spaces. However, the walls also cause private and noise issues. Those issues are usually something that the dweller has to give up in order to prioritize having space for everything and everyone in the household.

doors

Interior doors are often low on the dwellers priority list. If the money is short, and there are other improvements that are more important to be done in the house, the doors can wait. To have a bit of privacy between the rooms, sometimes fabric curtains are put in the door's place.
